Silverton Wedding: Amanda + Josh

As the rain clouds rolled over the mountain peaks that surround Silverton, Colorado, Amanda and Joshua quietly put on the their finishing touches. This has been years in the making. Not just the years that these two dated, became engaged, and set a date, but now add one more year to the wait because of Covid-19.

I personally know how sad it is to have to postpone a wedding, even when you know it was the absolute best decision for yourselves and your community. On this particular day, the wonderful weather went from a small rainstorm to gorgeous speckled clouds that gave us breaks from the hot high-country sun. The energy was high in all of the guests - just like with the bride and groom - they were ready for this day and this party! It made me wonder, was this day have been as serene and magical in 2020? Would we have had that cooling, good-luck rain storm? I’d like to think that this day was extra special and rare, not in spite of, but because of the delay.

We started the day off with Amanda getting ready inside the Kendall Mountain Lodge. Josh and his dudes hung in the RV outside. Friends and family prepped the food and drinks, including the hand-raise goat for the taco buffet. Nothing better than a overflowing taco bar at 9,500 feet above sea level! Amanda and her grandfather rode their horses to the end of the aisle and then Amanda’s father walked her the rest of the way. During group photos, beverage burrows(pack donkeys) walked around and hydrated the wedding party and guests. After reflection photos at the gorgeous, green, mountain geese pond, we headed up to a high-mountain basin to take bride and groom portraits. We topped the night off with amazing food, games, dancing one heck of sparkler exit!

Congrats to Amanda and Josh!
