Whiskey + Ballet: A Story of Alissa and Joshua's Farm Wedding in Ignacio, Colorado
/On a warm, sunny and partially overcast day, surrounded by chickens, steers, honey bees and Colorado mountain ranges, Alissa and Joshua said, "I do". Their story began at the Nevada Ballet in Las Vegas. Throughout the years that followed they have shared many fabulous dances, sips of whiskey, rafting adventures, and one "mischievous" German Shepard. It all built up to the grand finale: the most personal wedding on Alissa's family's farm in the rural country side of Southwest Colorado.
Every element of the wedding day was personal and thoughtfully placed: the Bulleit Bourbon bottles made in to vases by Alissa's aunt and uncle, the Dory boat in the pond that Alissa's family is famous for taking down the Grand Canyon, the wedding bands and Hawaiian aloha shirts to incorporate Joshua island lineage, the "dance-off" between a wedding party made of almost all professional dancers, and so much more.
Every detail was so special and unique but the most special part was the love Alissa and Josh had for one another. It was in every movement they made around one another. Every whisper. Every smile.

Koa Tree inlaid wedding bands were a very special element to honor Joshua's Hawaiian heritage.
There were so many fun details around the property that helped tell the story of the day.
There was even a cactus atrium as you entered the ranch house.
The ladies got ready in the main house...
and the guys got ready in the glass studio across the hall... and took some bourbon shots too, of course.
Alissa's father got to have the first look and well, let's just say I still tear up when I look at the photos from that moment.
The ceremony site, like the rest of the wedding location, was surrounded by tall alfalfa grass and honeysuckle.
Max was honored with carrying the wedding rings to his two favorite people and also documenting the whole day on his GoPro.
The bride and groom surrounded themselves with close friends and family, many of whom share the love and profession of dance with Alissa and Joshua.
Throughout the day the scattered clouds and stormy horizon made for such romantic light.
Joshua gave Alissa a little lift. That ballet dancing strength came in handy for photo ops.
The first dance was most beautiful I have ever seen! What more would you expect from two professional dancers?
The dance-off did not disappoint!
