Ashley and James wanted the best of both worlds: an adventurous, intimate mountain-top setting and a large ceremony and after party for all their extended friends and family. So they did just that. These two started their day with their wedding party and parents at the top of a secluded basin that I recommended near Ouray, Colorado and ended it in a vast field surrounded by the Uncompahgre National Forest at Top of the Pines.

This was one of the best weddings I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Not because of the Parks and rec-themed décor, the amazing bluegrass band, or the stellar surroundings (though those were all just as fabulous as they sound), but because of the people and the extraordinary relationships everyone so clearly shared. The day was filled with so much love and so many personal touches, connections, and stories. I found myself often pausing and thinking things like, “they even have sailboat living friends that came all this way after knowing them for a couple short years, who wrote them a group poem”. It was so obvious that Ashley and James are loved by many and make lasting impressions on those they meet. I cried a few times, which is the best indicator that love, emotions, and empathy was high with this crew. It was just one of those evening when the love really was all around and it reminded us all why we love weddings.
