Surprise Proposal and Engagement at Blue Lake Ranch
/Leiser contacted me about a week before his and Jacklyn’s trip to Durango, to plan out his surprise proposal. The couple had rented a cabin at Blue Lake Ranch in Hesperus, Colorado and Leiser knew that it was the perfect moment. Not being from the area, he asked for my help in planning out the best spot to pop the question. The lake seemed like a no-brainer to us. I arrived early and brought my blanket, book, and camera. I pretended to be a guest of the ranch and sat across the lake from them. I thumbed through my pages, pretending not to peep over the top of the book to monitor his movements. I grabbed my camera and began to walk around the lake, taking photos of birds and wildflowers. There was a storm all around and we all had to pretend we were not worried by it. He dropped to one knee and I zoomed past the cattails and ladybugs to get the shot.
After the proposal, we all wandered around the property and took in the beautiful landscape of the Hesperus area. We found a secret garden cottage and got lost in the foliage. The sky and mountain views kept changing as the storm moved out so it kept us shooting because each moment offered some new perspective.
Congrats to Leiser and Jacklyn!
