Sirens: The Mountain Mermaids

I know that all those who could not attend the exhibit last month have been holding their breath to see the final images chosen for the show.

But gosh! Looking back at my photography from a year ago, I can see how much I have grown since then. It is truly astounding. Do I wish I could have done it differently? Absolutely not! It all happened as it was meant to at that point in my photography and my life.

What a great reception it was too! So many people turned out for the event that it is all now just a blur to me. Looking back now, I should have had somebody be MY photographer for the night so I could remember things the next day!

Thank you all near and far for your help, love, and support! Some pieces from the show and custom prints in 8x10 or larger are available.

I made this blog short because I think I'm still exhausted. Ha ha.

till the next one,

A

My life in Colorado has been blessed with overwhelming forces that brought this solo project to fruition.  My tremendous good luck of having being brought up in an area surrounded by fresh water while experiencing it’s force constantly flowing all around me, is celebrated throughout this project.  My other inspiration came from the talent of many spirited women so willing to get in front of my camera, often times in freezing water and rain for the sake of making art.

We are a fortunate community with rich ties to our environment, savoring our waterways and mountain ranges. The scarcity of water and the threat of drought is on our minds with the many changes our globe is experiencing and for this reason I chose to use water as a medium to show gratitude for it. I’ve placed models on lakes at 9,000 feet high and waterfalls at 11,000. I watched as these models transformed into the stuff of my dreams and more. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, Colorado is the finest place to call  home. We have the most beautiful, graceful, and tenacious women who are blessed with a backdrop beyond compare.

You can find these pieces at the Lost Dog Bar and Lounge until 7/19/15
